Description:
Skulltag was a client/server multiplayer-focused source port derived from ZDoom. It had many new features, a ton of new maps, new weapons and powerups, and a very strong following. While I was not formally a part of the development staff, I did contribute one new map. It was first seen in the October 2009 release of Skulltag 98a. The name of the map was Power Mill and it occupied the D2DM8 slot. The map was originally a part of the ill-fated Duel Surge II project.
Unfortunately in the middle of 2012, the Skulltag project officially ended. The creator of the port, Carnevil, moved on to new endeavors and ended Skulltag. You may have heard of his new project; it’s called Wrack. The caretakers of the project at the time, including the main coder Torr Samaho, moved the project base and called it Zandronum. Zandronum is essentially a continuation of Skulltag, just with a different name. It does everything Skulltag use to do, but is being updated and maintained. The main release of Zandronum lacks the added content that Skulltag use to have. However Zandronum can run all of the Skulltag content, and in fact it is necessary if you wish to run any Skulltag-era mapsets or mods that use the old actors and assets. You can download Zandronum HERE. You can download the Skulltag data pack, which contains my map Power Mill among all of the other maps and content, right HERE.
So just as a note, any project requiring the Zandronum port that has been released prior to 2012 will require the Skulltag Data Pack in order to be loaded and played properly!
