32in24: Basic Killer Instinct; The Prequel, Part One of Three Return to Basics Level 5 was another deathmatch-themed speedmapping session by the YEDS team. In addition to having the raddest 32in24 name in history, this one was more laid-back; only the use of Doom II resources were permitted to make a deathmatch map. I contributed 3 maps, each slightly lesser in quality than the last. The first map, Mekworx Special is actually pretty good. It has an interesting layout, decent detailing, and a pretty cool way to get the BFG. The second map, In Rust We Trust, is slightly less refined but it does have lots of height variation and decent flow. I had about 45 minutes to do a third and final map. The last one, Zank (teh prequel!) I finished up pretty hastily. It’s supposed to be a “prequel” to a map in IGPack named Zankplus. However, it’s pretty easy to tell that I was rushing to finish it, and the end-result probably isn’t very fun to play.
